MEET THE WRITER
GINA DEANGELIS
Gina DeAngelis is the youngest of 10 kids who all talked at once. She started writing just to get a word in. With Master’s degrees in history and screenwriting, she’s written more than 60 publications. Her first produced script was nominated for an Emmy Award; her second won. Her work has appeared on PBS and was performed live for Queen Elizabeth II. Based in Virginia, DeAngelis finds inspiration in America’s “Historic Triangle” and writes contemporary stories set in unique subcultures. Her unlikely heroes overcome estrangement and isolation by building diverse found families. Even her darkest horror stories are (so far) ultimately life-affirming, and her scripts are consistently honored by the Nicholl Fellowships, Austin Film Festival, PAGE Awards, The Dead List, Stowe Story Labs, and others. Most recently, DeAngelis wrote the indie feature EVERYTHING FUN YOU COULD POSSIBLY DO IN ALEDO, ILLINOIS (L.A. premiere October 2023), and 13 commissioned documentary shorts (STORIES OF WAR) about Black American veterans. Her first horror short, ASK FOR HELP, is now in festivals, and her second, an adaptation called DOORS, is in post-production.
